Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Greet all patients and visitors courteously Obtain Patient identification (driver's license or other approved picture ID) Perform accurate and complete Data entry of patient information Verify patient insurance eligibility, status, copay/deductibles and update in EHR & indicate updates on encounter form Obtain required signed consents At each visit ensure that all information in the patient's demographic field is up to date Obtain copies of patient insurance cards Distribute faxes throughout the day Ensure all guarantor information is complete in the patient's chart.
Perform Scanning of test results, progress notes, medical records, etc.
into patient charts daily Inform patients of their financial responsibility; check and address patient balances prior to Scheduling appointment and upon registration as described in NPHC's financial policy Comply with all NPHC's policies and procedures Collect copays/deductibles and all balances due prior to services being rendered.
Schedule lunch conferences with pharmaceutical representatives Provide clerical support for supervising staff Distribute mail as needed Answer telephones in a timely manner, triage phone calls, take messages and route appropriately Call patients, prior to appointments, if insurance information is unverifiable & obtain updated information & update in EHR (if patient has balance, address it) Prepare patient encounter forms for each visit Print patient medication lists Perform recalls for patients by sending letters or making phone calls (using provided lists) and document in EHR Schedule patient appointments Process all new patient paperwork and schedule new patient appointments as needed Complete and mail transfer of care letters along with clinical summaries to those patients transferring care Change settings in EHR to allow patients to accept auto-reminder calls Insure that all information in the patient's demographic field pertaining to insurance, co-pays & deductibles is updated PRIOR to the patient's appointment Collect all remaining or new balances due at check out Comply with NPHC's financial and collection of accounts receivable policies Ensure complete and accurate data entry of patient information Uphold RHC standards, rules and regulations Collect & document necessary data in EHR as required to meet meaningful use measures Incorporate, support and practice those capabilities adopted as a PCMH Practice HIPAA compliance at work and off duty Provide assistance with patient registration and check-out as needed (including Referral scheduling) Schedule all patient referral appointments as necessary Document and Track referrals from start to finish in EHR Obtain insurance approval for referral services as necessary Provide assistance with billing related duties Perform all front office duties as needed (including check-in and check-out) Order office supplies as needed Submit support requests to IT and EHR vender as needed Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned PREFERRED EDUCATION:
Preferably a minimum of a Medical Office Assistant certificate.
At least one year of medical office experience.
Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent.
PREFERRED
Experience:
At least two years related office experience; basic clerical skills; intermediate computer skills; good oral and written communication skills; experience dealing with people in a professional position.
Healthcare experience preferred.
Must be able to type and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
Any deviations from this allowable with the discretion of the Practice Manager or Medical Director.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
